Restless

Reflection on Psalm 30 took me to a place of asking some really deep questions, but also seeing how Jesus meets us in the place of our deepest experiences, emotions, and longings. Jesus entered the human story, and we can find Him in our stories as well. Emmanuel. God with us in our past, present and future. Weaver of our dreams, Father still: in the nightmares, comfort in tears, and mountain for our vision.

Restless

A reflection on Psalm 30

By Enoch Rottier

Restless

Gasping for air

Smothered

Broken by burden

Saviour

Gasping for air

Innocence

Broken by burden

Insatiable

Hunger never ceases

Unquenchable

Thirst after thirst

Human

Hunger never ceases

Sponge

Thirst after thirst

Sheol

Dust to dust

God

Where are You?

Sheol

Death’s last stand

God

Where are You?

Soul

Downcast within me

Fear

The dark shadow

Soul

Raised above enemies

Resurrection

Death to life

Happiness

Fleeting and striving

Tomorrow

The next disappointment?

Joy

Peace and trust

Tomorrow

Mercies ever new

Empty

Who am I?

Lost

Who will know

Filled

Child with song

Found

Father’s eternal delight
